Auto Body Technician
I have been a body technician at Mackin’s Auto Body since 2000 and enjoy passing on my knowledge to the many apprentices I work with. It’s rewarding to see them continue to work for McGinn as skilled technicians.
What’s Included In Auto Body Repair Services?
McKim Auto Body is currently seeking experienced Auto Body Technicians. Mackin’s Auto Body has been a family-owned, locally owned business since 1945 and has partnerships with numerous insurance companies, which helps maintain steady employment year-round.
We are looking for senior technicians who can increase productivity and quality of work. The ideal candidate has at least 2 years of journeyman experience and is I-Car certified. In addition to skilled auto body technicians, we are looking for reliable team members with a strong work ethic while maintaining a clean and safe work environment.
You are a leader with excellent verbal and written communication skills. You’re not afraid to delegate tasks and do what you need to do to complete your assignments. You are driven, inspiring, and positive.

After working in the collision repair field for many years I decided to look for a company that shared my progressive values and after a long period of research I chose McKinn Auto Body…what a great decision! The compassion for customers, employees and the industry is real. The slogan “old-fashioned service with cutting-edge technology” is well-deserved. The owners have truly built a well-respected organization that is second to none.
In September 1945, Bob and Doris Mackin purchased the Mobil Oil gas station on Interstate Avenue in North Portland for just $1,000. Mackin’s Auto Body was originally named Mackin’s Automotive. Initially, Bob ran the gas station and Doris handled the accounting. Just one year later, Bob and Doris hired their first employee. The next year, they purchased the gas station across the street. In 1949, Mackin’s began a 10-year towing business.
In 1960, Bob Mackin built Mackin’s Garage on the corner of Denver Avenue and Schofield, where we are today in North Portland. In 1959, at age 10, Bob’s son Larry started working small jobs in the automotive industry. Over time, his responsibilities increased, and by 1970, he was working full-time. In 1979, he became a partner in the newly named Mackin and Son Automotive.

After Bob Mackin’s death in 2001, Larry partnered with his wife, Suzanne, to form Mackin and Son Automotive, Inc.
